System Recovery 23 - Hyper V Best Practices

What are the best practices when using System Recovery 23 with Hyper V?

- Do we install System Recovery on the Hyper V host and make individual backups of each VHDx? -- making an incremental as needed of any VHDx that we are about to make a system change on.

or

- Install System Recovery on the OS of each of the virtual machines and back up all drives?

System Recovery is all we have at the moment -- what is a more appropriate solution for Hyper V to be able to do snapshots and easily revert back to last known working state?
