System Recovery Boot Disk Screens not Scaling Correctly on a 4K Display

When I boot from a System Recovery thumb drive on my HP x360 laptop that has a 4K screen, the screen where I would normally choose what operation to perform (perform a backup, recover my system, etc.) is completely unreadable because it apparently is not scaling properly to this high a resolution screen. This makes it impossible for me to recover the system in the event I would ever need to do so.

Any known workaraounds or fixes for this? I'm using the latest version of System Recovery with SP2 with the basic recovery disk (not full Windows PE).

  • You could modify  the relevant XML file, but for that you'd need the full Windows PE.
