System Tray Icon not responding

I recently built a new PC with a fresh Windows 11 install and installed ASR 24.  I was able to apply my license and the application is generally working as expected, except for the system tray icon.  Usually when I click the icon in the system tray, nothing happens at all.  If I click it several times, one of the clicks will eventually register.  Note that none of the other applications running in my system tray have this issue.  Has anyone else seen this issue?

  • I have experienced the same problem to varying degrees on several computers.  It is very annoying.  I hope the next update fixes the issue (wherever that will be lol).  I have found double clicking a bit slower sometimes helps.

  • Exactly the same situation here. Upgraded from VSR23 to ASR24 a few days ago.

    Everything appeared to run smoothly, but after the reboot the System Tray icon failed to appear. Editing the settings.ini file fixed that issue but clicking or double clicking on the icon doesn't always get a response, as previously described.

    The console also can be very sluggish on start-up and when navigating around different buttons and tabs etc.

    Considering how long VSR/ASR and it's previous incarnations have been around, you'd think they would have sorted out these niggling problems by now!

  • The solution is to modify Settings.ini;

    1. Open Explorer.
    2. Browse to "C:\ProgramData\Veritas\VERITAS SYSTEM RECOVERY\" folder.
    3. Open Settings.ini file using Notepad.
    4. Change the line "TrayRunConsole=1" to "TrayRunConsole=0".
    5. Save Settings.ini.
    6. Reboot the system.
    7. Issue resolved.

      TrayRunConsole=0 is already set for me.  Anyway, that seems to be the solution when the system tray icon does not appear in the tray.  For me, the icon DOES appear, it just doesn't respond well when I click on it.

        I have already encountered this on one of my test computers.  I have to right click 5 or 6 times to get the little menu to pop up.  I have another machine that experiences this to a lesser degree.  If nothing more, it is annoying. One of multiple issues encountered with ASR 24.
