Performance issue seen while running searches in Symantec Compliance Accelerator

Hi,

We are facing a performance issue in Compliance Accelerator application while running searches. Any scheduled searches are taking a long time to process and goes into Hung State after few hours. Below are troubleshooting we have done till date. Issue has been reported since this Tuesday (27/03/2012). No changes made in the Infra recently.

As per our conversation and webex session I can confirm that we have already verified that the following common causes of hung searches do not appear to the reason why your searches are hung.
Connectivity between SQL and CA server, appears to be ok, tracert revealed only 6 hops and and ODBC connectivity test completed successfully.
Accelerator Manager service has been restarted and this has not resolved the issue.
The Customer Background task has been restarted and has not resolved the issue.
As per our review of the event logs on the CA server there are no obvious errors or failures that could suggest there is an issue on the server itself.
As we have eliminated all of the above I would suggest we turn our attention to the SQL database, more specifically the transaction logs
Please consult the following technote which explains how to shrink the transaction log for the customer database,
http://clientui-kb.symantec.com/kb/index?page=content&id=TECH70794&actp=search&viewlocale=en_US
Ideally we need to confirm the existing size and compare that to the initial size and then shrink the log to see how much space we recover.

When running the maintenance make sure CA services are stopped otherwise you will see little to no benefit. Take note of the DBCC SHOWCONTIG Output in Tony's first TN as you may need to run the maintenance a couple of times to gain the recommended defrag figures Listed in the article.
