Should all monitored services be restarted if one service stops?

During implementation of AppHA where the agent is monitoring several services in the same guest we have noticed that if one service stops, the agent will try to restart all services monitored.

Is this "by design" or have we done something wrong while configuring the GenericService agent?

Hi AAlmroth,

It depends, the GenericService resource itself should attempt to restart the service that it is monitoring if it detects a problem with that service.  If it is not able to restart it, then it might restart the entire group which would trigger a restart of all services.  If that fails then VMWare HA might trigger a restart of the entire VM.

Thanks,

Wally

Hi AAlmroth,

If you are still concerned with this behavior, then please open a case with Symantec Technical Support and we can review the logs from the node to determine what is happening.

Thanks,

Wally
