I’m pleased to announce the availability of a new whitepaper for Enterprise Vault SMTP Archiving.
The paper is released today to coincide with the EV 11.0.1 CHF2 release. Amongst a number of important fixes, this release includes two new SMTP features: Address Rewriting and SMTP Mailbox Journaling.
For existing Exchange Journaling customers it's worth looking at some of the advantages SMTP Archiving offers. Not only will SMTP archiving reduce the Exchange Server footprint by removing the need for journal mailboxes, but it will also remove the huge amount of duplicate fan-out email Exchange Server generates for journaling through the use of address rewriting.
I can think of a few customers who would jump at the opportunity to reduce their daily journal from 5 million to 1.8 million items (just one example!) – resulting in less EV servers, smaller indexes, smaller SQL databases and less duplicate email to review in CA and DA.
