In this part of Exchange Backup and Restore via Netbackup 6.5 Part-IV we show you step by step configuration of below three points via Veritas Netbackup 6.5.
Note:- Before doing the below three restores must follow the article part-III
- Restore deleted MailBox
- Restore MailBox on existing MailBox (overwrite)
- Restore MailBox to alternate client
- Restore inbox folder(s)
- Restore inbox folder(s) to alternate client

1.) Restore deleted MailBox
1st delete the MailBox
After deleting the MailBox still you will find the MailBox name Shakeel(in our case we deleted the MailBox name Shakeel)
Run the cleanup agent as shown in the figure below
Now purge the MailBox
Click
YES after clicking on
Purge. Now the MailBox will delete permanently. Now all email messages destroyed as the MailBox is destroyed.
Now create a new MailBox before restoring the MailBox from the Netbackup (offcourse that MailBox will be empty).
See howto create new MailBox
Now select the
MailBox and click on
Start restore as in Figure
Now you can also see the Activity of restore from the Activity Monitor. This could be like the below figure
Now the MailBox is restored.
2.) Restore MailBox on existing MailBox (overwrite)
This is simple as we did in the
""1.) Restore deleted MailBox"", we dont need to delete/create MailBox as we want to
Restore MailBox on existing MailBox (overwrite).
3.) Restore MailBox to alternate client
Let suppose we have a MailBox name
rashid is empty and we are going to restore a MailBox of a user name
shakeel.
1st select the MailBox name
shakeel as shown in the figure and click on restore icon as it is outline with red colour.
Now you will find the below window
Now replace the name
shakeel with
rashid as shown in the below figure and click on
Start Restore. As you will click on
Start Restore the backup will start to restore. You can also view the Activity Monitor from from Netbackup to view the current restore process.
In figure-1 you can see the restore process is being run and in the figure-2 you can see the restore process completed successfully
After finishing this process you can see the emails of
shakeel MailBox in the
rashid MailBox
4.) Restore inbox folder(s)
select the folder(s) you want to restore and click on
restore button which is outline
red
- Click on restore button then click on Start Restore if you want to restore the inbox folders on the same inbox and if you want to restore the inbox folders to alternate client continue to the below steps
5.) Restore inbox folder(s) to alternate client
- Click on General TAB.
- Double click on red highlighted folders one by one.
After clicking on folder you will find this window
Now replace the name from rashid to arif and click OK as the below figure shows (in our case we are restoring the inbox folders from rashid to arif)
Now you can see the
Source is rashid and
Destination is arif. After verify the
Source and
Destination click on
Start Restore
When the backup is restored you can see the inbox of arif which shows the inbox folders of rashid.
