Short and Sweet!  Now, can you do the same for a UNIX Master Server, and go into detail on how to create the Shared Root Tree for the UNIX clients?  Do I need the UNIX OS DVDs?  Any UNIX flavoured OS binaries included, or are we on our own?

Hi Ashi,

Could you please let me know where i need to execute the below command (Master or Client server )

Prepration of BMR Boot Server:

1. There is no need to install any component for Boot server. Boot server will be install with Netbackup client installation and with netbackup server installation.

2. In this example we will use boot services of Netbackup master server.

3. Open the command prompt and register boot server with BMR master server. Run the following command

You need to execute this command on a host which you want to prepare as BMR boot server.

BMR boot server OS needs to be of same platform as client being recovered. If you want to recover windows client then your boot server os needs to be one of the BMR supported windows platform.

BMR BS can be setup on NB client as well as NB master, media server.

Before you run "bmrsetupmaster -register", make sure that NB client has correct master server entry. This verification is required if you are setting up bmr bs on nb client. Else it may get registered with un-intended master having wrong entry in the nb client configuration.

Hopefully this helps.

check out below windows dissimilar system recovery videos (more in depth) for windows bmr dr for reference. You may not require all the steps if you are not doing recovery onto different target host than original.

hello,

nice post... i have followed this steps however i have following issue after i create a PTR and start off the restore process from an iso file:

the restore job completes successfully for the C:\ drive but then it does not kick off the next step of the process (system state restore).

the restore task in BMR just sits there queued all the time....

any ideas why it's not set to active when the restore process starts?

thanks,

florin

you may want to open this problem on new thread.

Do you have any firewall sitting in between client and master.
