About shrinking the catalogs

Hi all,

For my 3600 appliance, I've been backing up the catalogs (D:\BackupExec\Catalogs) regularly by burning the whole folder into a DVD. For a pretty long while since use, it's been good and remained at around 3.5 GB. However, in the last month, it's grown substantially and reached 4.9GB now.

Any reason why it has expanded so much? Is there a way to shrink it so that I can burn it into a single disc successfully?

Thanks,

Joe

You can prune your catalogs to be retained for less time, but this change only takes effect oncethat setting is made. If you prune the catalogs to be retained for 60 days from today, then from today you will retain 60 days-worth of catalogs, but you still have your old catalogs. This could be a means to make them fit onto a DVD.

No way to make them fit onto a DVD unless you consider zipping them before doing so. They're *.xml files so should zip just fine.

Thanks!

Hi Craig,

Thanks for your replies. By pruning, do you mean the setting "Truncate catalogs after X months"?
