Backup Exec 3600 Appliance and WSUS

I have a Windows 2003 domain (not connected to web) in wich Backup Exec 3600 Appliance will handle backups. Hosts in this domain are configured to obtain updates from my local WSUS server (installation of those updates are forced after a given time), and I'm wondering what will happen when I'll add Bacup Exec to my domain and the update policy will take effect on Backup Exec? Or maybe it is better to disable this policy for Backup Exec 3600 Appliance?

...it's a Windows-based appliance after all, even with it being locked down.

But check the TN below and look at the Manage tab on the appliance itself:

Thanks!

EDIT: And this forum query:

So it appears it won't update through the WSUS box...

So what I understand is that in the default configuration Backup Exec is managing updates for Windows Server 2008 R2 which is installed on the appliance. But when my WSUS policy will be deployd on my Backup Exec it will take control over Windows updates (enabling the Automatic Updates service) skiping the BE mechanism - and that's my worry, if it won't mess things up with BE.

It may...in which case I would rather leave the appliance off the WSUS server. When you update your other servers, just do the appliance manually.

Thanks!

Thanks for your help!

I'll leave my BE off the WSUS policy.

Thanks again!
