Simplified Disaster Recovery (SDR)

Hi,

If the D drive of my backup appliance 3600.R3 is almost full i.e. 5 TB and with this setup I create the SDR disk (simple disaster recovery disk) , how much size should I expect of SDR disk ? I wonder if the creation of SDR disk would take the backup of D drive as well which in my case is around 5 TB of data.

Regards

...it should be as large as your server you're going to use SDR on.

Thanks1

The SDR disk should fit comfortably into a DVD. It does not contain any backup set. When you do a SDR restore, it will link to a backup set on disk or take and use that. Note that the storage on the BE Appliance is a dedup folder and you cannot do a SDR restore from a dedup folder

So does this mean that it will only take the backup of OS, backup exec's configuration and its database ?

...it should as long as it is on the C:\. Just read up in the Admin Guide around this as it will detail it nicely.

Thanks!

No. The SDR disk does built contain any of these days. They are part of the backup set. Do read and understand the SDR chapter in the Admin Guide if you plan to use it.
