Slow Backup to Disk Performance on BE 3600 Appliance.

Hi,

I am using the BE3600 Appliance to backup Physical server size 189GB on Gigabit network. The whole backup to disk process used 9 hours to complete with the throughput rate at 2376MB/min (performed Client-side Dedupication).  But It only used 50 mins with throughput 5500 MB /min to complete the backup to tape (Used LTO6 tape).

Can anyone assist me on this issue?

...rule out network as the issue by doing a copy of a couple of GBs of data (various file sizes) between the appliance and the target server.

Thanks!

When Changed the Backup to disk from Client-side Dedupication to Backupexec server side Deduplication, Working perfectly.

What is the difference between Client-side Dedupication and Backupexec server side Deduplication?

Looking forward your help.

Thanks

Server side dedup means that your backup server does the deduplication. You have to watch out with this because if you have a lot of client your backup server will be under big load. Just monitor the load on the server and you should be fine.
