12.0 - The .DR file that is required for Intelligent Disaster Recovery is not updated.

Hello,

I just installed BE 12.0 and seem to be getting these errors for every server that I'm backing up:

Backup- \\SERVERNAME\C:
The .DR file that is required for Intelligent Disaster Recovery is not updated.

Backup- \\SERVERNAME\D: Data
The .DR file that is required for Intelligent Disaster Recovery is not updated.

Backup- \\SERVERNAME\Shadow?Copy?Components - VSS Writer File System
The .DR file that is required for Intelligent Disaster Recovery is not updated.

Backup- \\SERVERNAME\System?State
The .DR file that is required for Intelligent Disaster Recovery is not updated.

Any ideas?

I have created IDR floppies for each server.

Thanks,

Dave

The .DR file will not be update if any files are excluded from the backup.
Select the server at the root and ensure that there are no exclusions and then run a FULL BACKUP

Thanks for the link to doc 298283. I checked, and have confirmed that I followed the steps within this document but I still get these errors on backup.

My weekly full backups are fine and do not have these errors, but the daily differentials do.

Any other suggestions?

Thanks,

Dave

It's normal to get that message for differentials - the IDR file is only updated for full backups.

Is there something that I can configure so that it does not try to back them up then? I would prefer to have a "clean" backup with no exceptions.

Thanks,

Dave

Id like to also know if you can turn this off. If it doesn't update it i would like it not to show up just for this instance.

Hi,

I would also like to know how not to have this show up in the reports?

We use System Recovery (weekly) to image the server for DR purposes and Backup Exec for the data nightly.

Can it be turned off?

 - Do I need to uninstall the 'Intelligent Disaster Recovery Option'??

Thanks!

Supposedly this will work:

I installed new 12.5 install and have this issue.  I checked the article above and the setting is defaulted to 1 already (though in a slightly different location for IDR).

I am going to try to run the Intelligent Disaster Recovery Preparation Wizard and select "Copy - Disaster recovery information (.dr) files" option, to back up the disaster recovery information (.dr) file and rerun backup.
