12.5 ODBC Access Error after upgrade -- shows Error Code E0008445 for each failed job

We recently upgraded Symantec Backup Exec to 12.5.  The upgrade seemed to go well as all of our data (jobs, etc) showed up in the new installation.  However, the jobs have never completed successfully.  They seem to fail during the VERIFY stage.  If I turn off Verification options, the job completes successfully, but if I try to restore that data, I get this error:

ODBC Access Error.  Possible lost connection to database or unsuccessful access to catalog index in the database.

In the Job History view, it shows Error Code E0008445 for each failed job.

I have followed the instructions in this Symantec Tech Article:
http://seer.entsupport.symantec.com/docs/303035.htm

but it didn't resolve any issues.  I tried both Solutions mentioned.

Solution A gave me this result:  (1 rows affected)

Solution B gave me this result:

1. Stop the Backup Exec Services.
2. Open a command prompt on the media server
3. Change the directory to the Backup Exec installation directory:

\Program Files\Symantec\Backup Exec

4. Type the follow and then press Enter:

catrebuildindex -r

5. After the process completes, scroll up and confirm the log show files were successfully migrated
6. Restart all of the Backup Exec Services on the media server.

Worked for me.

try to repair your backup exec installation but prior to that make sure to delete all the alerts under the active alerts and alert history.
