2010 Remote Agent - What MS components are upgraded?

Hi All,

As part of the push install of the Remote Agent from a 2010/2010 R2 media server, a number of MS components appear to be upgraded/installed (.NET Framework for example).

Is there any way to obtain a list of what these are?

I need to know everything the Remote Agent install will do do a Windows Server.

Thanks in advance,

Gilly

Hi Gilly,

Couldn't find exactly what is upgraded, as it must be quite a lot.

However, take a look at the TNs below and see if they help you at all. One is the enhancements and issues resolved between 2010 and 2010 R2, and the other is the release notes...

Thanks!

Hi Craig,

Thanks for that.

Specifically though we have a customer looking to upgrade from BE12.5 to 2010R2.

The concern is that while pushing out the remote agents certain remote servers may not be "receptive" to MS component updates/installs.

Of course more than likely there will be no affect on the remote server however at the same time I cannot tell the customer that there is no chance of a problem.

Although the SCL gives me the OS revisions/SP's it doesn't tell me what is upgraded in terms of .NET Framework etc.

...that is quite a major upgrade, so expect it to upgrade almost everything. I don't think anybody here on the forums that isn't a Symantec technical employee would know unfortunately.

Why not try raise the same query with someone like Colin Weaver in a PM?

Gilly: Don't upgrade to R2...R3 is coming out shortly. It has a number of enhancements over R2, which itself had a number of enhancements over 2010 R1.

Amongst others, the slow backups of Windows Server 2008 System States has apparently been fixed, and dedupe has been optimized.

So hang on for that...should be out within the next couple of weeks.
