Hi Everyone! I have got an issue on some tapes: there is a pencil icon with red cross on tape. I think it means that can not write data. After scratching it, the pencil icon with red cross disappears. When run the backup job, the tape was automatically ejected and the icon pencil icon with red cross appears on the scratch tape. Please help an advice to use these tapes for backup. Thanks Khanh

Check the tapes themselves  for the physical write protect tab being slid across (on the side of the tape cartridge)

That icon means that tape is Read-Only.
If you are using older LTO tapes in your drive have in mind the following:
- An Ultrium drive can read data from a cartridge in its own generation and the two prior generations.
- An Ultrium drive can write data to a cartridge in its own generation and to a cartridge from the immediate prior generation in the prior generation format.

For example. A LTO-4 drive can read a LTO-2 tape but won't be able to write data. Therefore will be set to Read Only.

One other possibility is that your tape is a WORM tape that had already been written
