ACL change cause backup of file?

Hello,

If I change permissions on several thousand files, will that cause backupexec to perform a full backup of each file??? Or is BackupExec smart enough to only backup the ACL information?

Thanks,
Troy

Hello,

Are you performing full backups or incremental ones? Have you scheduled backup to be performed using the modified time method? do elaborate your question.

It was more of a general question. But, if we perform weekly FULL backups (Saturday), and on monday I change the ACL's for 1000 files, will those files be backed up during our nightly differential backup assuming the file itself does not change.

Hi Troy!

Changing ACL causes to set the "archive bit" which means the file becomes ready to backup.

Hence if you run differential backup after making ACL changes, those files will be backed up!
