Access denied in selection list and resource credentials but backups run fine

When looking at a user-defined selections list and trying to expand any server I get an invalid credentials error and it asks me to select a user to attempt to try again with. When using the Resource Credentials tab, all the servers except the backup server I'm on fail the credential test.

But the crazy thing is the backups work fine. This just happened one day when I went in to add a server to the selection list. The credentials and permissions are correct and like I said backup jobs are running just fine on the same backup server with the same credentials backing up the same servers in the same selection list.

I have backup Exec 2010 R3 Version 13.0 Rev. 5204

Hi Preston,

There may be something wrong with the trust between your media server and remote servers...check the TN below to set it up again (there are a couple of options):

THanks!

Edit the system logon account & re-enter the password. And pls ensure the user name is preceded by domainname\

And this account should be set as default system logon account.

It could be possible, the password for the BE account was changed in AD but not in BE. This would affect newer backups, mostly not the older ones.

...changing the BESA password would affect everything surely? The password and/or username would be completely different. BE checks this account AD to authenticate, and with the manual storage of the username/password in BE (ie. no integration into AD really), surely it would fail with new and old backups?

Thanks!

I'm super hisitant to with any whose backups are functional, but on my dev, beta and test, servers that don't have the backup agent installed, it works perfectly fine. Does that help diagnose it any more?
