Access denied when I try to backup a CIFS share from VNX5300 ...

Hi,

I'm trying to backup a CIFS share from our new VNX5300 SAN system. The server is joined to our domain, all AD users (and Administrator too) can access this share witout any problems.

If I try to select this share for a backup Job on our BE 2010 R2 (with all current hotfixes) I get "access denied". I tested different login credentials and changed the Remote Agent logon to Administrator - without success.

Any idea to resolve this problem? Found nothing related in the KB ...

Many Thanks.

Erik

To backup the VNX storage array You need to have Backup exec 2010 R2 along with NDMP option.

Please ref to the HCL for more details In the NDMP section:

Why does he "NEED," the NDMP option?  Why can't he use "user defined shares?"

Are you trying to add/browse VNX5300 through an user-defined share ? Do you have adequate number of RAWS licenses installed & is selection of user shares enabled under Tools - Options...

Also, do take a look at this KB - http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH148189
