...unless you're not running a domain, or have some reason for not making the BESA a member of the Domain Admins group, that is a requirement from a Backup Exec-side of things. If you can make it a Domain Admin, do so and then try the backup again.

You might also want to select "Automatically select open file technology" instead of specifying one.

Thanks!

1. Did you enable AOF? 2. Is the BESA a domain admin?

1) AOFO is enabled

2) BESA is not a domain admin

C:\Windows\Shadow is a directory created usually when a security software named Data Loss Prevention (DLP) is used OR if one has created it manually. If the former is indeed the case, you may want to check with the DLP support team if it's necessary to back this up and if any permissions are required.

If not, then would recommend to run an AV scan, as this directory is not created by default.

...can you provide a screenshot of that setting, because it looks like that is what the OP had already set!

Thanks!

Mai: Can you please confirm that setting or have you posted details of what the OP already has?

Thanks!

The Symantec VSP is meant for Windows 2000 only. This is clearly stated in the dialog. Why do you assumed that the user is using Windows 2000? You meant the Microsoft VSS provider, then take a look at the earlier screenshot posted by the user. It clearly show that he has explicitly selected the Microsoft VSS. Do read the discussion carefully before posting any suggestion

I already read comments but Sorry, I select wrong {i mean select Microsoft VSS for windows 2003 which already selected because if you want to take backup of any operating system folder like windows, you must enable it.

Sorry for confusing. Thanks for you and Craigv for attention.
