Hello,
my installation of Backup Exec 2010 R3 started to fail ALL backup tasks and I cannot sort it.
I got these errors:
SERVERNAME is the server where BEX is installed.
Set Detail Information - Backup \\SERVERNAME\System?State
|
Set Detail Information - Backup \\ANOTHERSERVER\C:
|
Set Detail Information - Backup \\DATABASESERVER\DB1
|
I got also other 2-3 similar errors on the same backup tasks for other servers: 5 - Access is denied
The task starts and go for approximately 1h (but it's random), it copies 20-30gb then stops.
The backup target is a shared folder on a NAS.
I have tested the credentials and they passed on all servers involved in the task (Successful - used server credentials).
This issue started without a clear reason for me :\

Pls ensure the logon account is in the format domain\admin and preferably this account is the same one used by Backup Exec services with the exception of the Remote Agent service which should run under the local system account.
Additionally, the BE account should ALL rights as per - https://www.veritas.com/support/en_US/article.TECH23689
Lastly, if running any AntiVirus, please exclude it from scanning the BE processes.

Hello,
thank you for your answer.
The strange is that:
- no account has changed
- all accounts are in the form domain\accountname (as in the past 3 years !)
- the backup stops after 10gb or 70gb or XXgb without reason
- the credential test is passed
If it's an account related issue backup task should stops immediately, right ?
It could be a destination folder issue ?

Sorry wrong reply.

It maybe a destination issue if BE loses connection to the target storage, however then the error message is usually different. You can isolate this by running a backup to a local disk storage instead.
What about AV scans
If it's an account related issue backup task should stops immediately, right ?
- Not necessarily as different resources may require different permissions/rights.

Hello,
I have checked the alerts, I found this alert:
The permission on the backup-to-disk folder prevents access by Backup Exec. Ensure that the Backup Exec service account has a full access permissions to the backup-to-disk folder. The job has been canceled.

In this case the backup has saved approximately 900gb.
According to error message is a destination issue but I dont' understand why the task crashes randomly.

Problem not solved.
I have checked the accounts on BE and all are ok but the backup fails in random way with an error regarding the destination that results not accessible.
I don't see a schema in this error, it's very frustrating... I'm sure that it's not related to NAS, it works in any other situation and it worked for weeks also with BE.
I really don't undestand because the task fails and how it can be linked to NAS access rights, the task starts and copies a lot of data (4-500gb) then stops. Sometimes stops after 100GB, sometimes after 1tb but never ends correctly.
