Hi all.
I've done a fair bit of trawling of the Message Boards, and of the Tech support documents, but I can't find what I'm looking for..... Can you help please?
We currently have a v9.1 server backing up several remote servers. The current configuration backs up to NAS box direct (SCSI) attached to the 9.1 Server.
We'd like to add a Tape Library (probably LTO if it matters...), and run backups to Disk still, and also drop to tape for off-site storage.
A couple of questions please:
1. Is it possible to do both a B2D and to Tape backup from the same backup job?
2. Is there an easy way to find out how much data I'm backing up in a nightly differential, or weekly full job without going into each job summary..... or am I being lazy!? :) Are there any additional requirements I need to consider generated by using a Tape Library?
3. From this is there any formula I need to apply as to how many tapes I would require, or is this going to depend on how I partition the tape device pool (see, I have done some reading...) and on the relevant job size.
4. Is there a significant hit on processing / memory when adding a Tape Library to the server? It's running hot as it is...
I need to scope out what I need for this project, what HW I need and how much time it will take to set-up.
I already have a Library Expansion Option.
We'll be upgrading to v10 within a couple of weeks.
Hope someone can help, or point towards a relevant doc. Many thanks for your time.
