Adding a Tape Libary Option in addition to B2D ??

Hi all.

I've done a fair bit of trawling of the Message Boards, and of the Tech support documents, but I can't find what I'm looking for..... Can you help please?

We currently have a v9.1 server backing up several remote servers. The current configuration backs up to NAS box direct (SCSI) attached to the 9.1 Server.
We'd like to add a Tape Library (probably LTO if it matters...), and run backups to Disk still, and also drop to tape for off-site storage.
A couple of questions please:
1. Is it possible to do both a B2D and to Tape backup from the same backup job?

2. Is there an easy way to find out how much data I'm backing up in a nightly differential, or weekly full job without going into each job summary..... or am I being lazy!? :) Are there any additional requirements I need to consider generated by using a Tape Library?

3. From this is there any formula I need to apply as to how many tapes I would require, or is this going to depend on how I partition the tape device pool (see, I have done some reading...) and on the relevant job size.

4. Is there a significant hit on processing / memory when adding a Tape Library to the server? It's running hot as it is...

I need to scope out what I need for this project, what HW I need and how much time it will take to set-up.

I already have a Library Expansion Option.
We'll be upgrading to v10 within a couple of weeks.

Hope someone can help, or point towards a relevant doc. Many thanks for your time.

Backup Exec 9.x has built-in functionality to duplicate backup sets. Refer the following TechNote's for the same :

http://seer.support.veritas.com/docs/255866.htm

http://seer.support.veritas.com/docs/256096.htm

------------------------

Test Run feature in v9.x can be used to determine Insufficient space on the media to perform a backup job.

http://support.veritas.com/docs/253164

------------------------

BEWS provides Reporting feature using which information required can be extracted. Refer Admin Manual for more details :

http://seer.support.veritas.com/docs/266190.htm

------------------------

Ensure that the tape device you are
using is explicitly tested with the Backup Exec for
Windows server v9.x. There are no issues like high processing/memeory while tape devcie with BEWS.

Thanks for the technical reference docs.
It will take me some time to try out and get working, so I'll close the call for now.

Thanks again.
