DFSR and ADBO

We are looking to deploy a W2K12R2 DFSR cluster and wanted to know if there are any issues with using iSCSI MS Clustered DFSR and the Advanced Disk Based Options with BE2014 - anything to know prior to deployment/ any gotchas?

Is the info in the following link still valid?

thanks

The only way to backup DSFR folders is to backup the shadow copy component of the volume on which they reside.

To add to pkh comment, are you trying to use ADBO for the Synthetic Backup process or the Off-Host process - I am pretty sure sythetic backups do not support  Shadow Copy component selections. You may have to do some more reserach into backing up DFSR (in a cluster) and the off-host process.

Hi

What do Symantec recommend for backing up DFSR data on a windows 2012 R2 cluster using Backup Exec 2014?

DFSR is cluster aware, yet the backup of DFSR is not you can only select the shadow copy components on the physical cluster node.

Which means you either have one node failing backups, because the DFSR resource is on the other node and hence there is no Shadow copy DFSR data to backup, or you have to have manual intervention after a failover. Either way there will be tears at some point in the future when it comes time for a restore.

Also backing up the data via the share does not appear to work with BE 2014, you recieve the same error, that is present when you try to backup a DFSR enabled folder at the directory level. (When I say error... the job succeeds however it just does not backup the data!!!!)
