After upgrading from 2012 to 2014 backup jobs hang on "Queued"

I am a bit of a newbie so please forgive any lack of details or technical knowledge.

I successfully upgraded from BE 2012 to 2014 this week (after fixing an error with the database using  http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH216807 ) on Windows 2008 R2 server.

I am backing up two NetApp filers via NDMP and two VMWare ESX hosts (V-Ray license) all to tape (Dell PowerVault TL2000 with LTO5 drive). This was working ok on 2012 but since upgrading to 2014 the jobs for the VMware hosts backup jobs hang indefinitely at starting with status: "Queued". Usually one of the two VMWare host backups will actually work then it hangs on the second one. There are no other jobs running. I have obviously tried reboots, created new test jobs and also installed the latest hotfix available (http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH218257).

Has anyone else seen anything like this before? How can I tell exactly what it thinks it is "queued" behind to troubleshoot this issue? What else can I look for or try?

Please let me know if I can provide more information. Thanks!

Good news! I think I have solved the issue. (Will be 100% sure after I run all the full backups over the weekend.

I tested the backup of the particular ESX Host to disk and it still failed so I knew then it wasn't the tape drive.

I decided to remove the entire problematic ESX Host server out of Backup Exec (deleted from Backup and Restore) and re-add it again. I re-created the jobs for it and kicked off another backup... voila!! Working perfectly again :)

Hi O_Jay,

Do you see any errors in Window Event Logs during the time of the failing backup?

Try a running a Backup Exec Repair through Programs and Features.

What version of NetApp?

If you are using ESO, this may be relevant  http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH212366

No errors in the event log because the backup isn't "failing" it is just hanging at Queued. There are errors after I cancel the job and restart services or the media server to get the program to respond but that is to be expected.

I will try the Repair.

We aren't having any problems with the NetApp though. The article above refers to older versions of BE, not 2014 anyway.

Some more information today after lengthy testing. I have isolated the issue to one of the ESX host backups. Number one seems to work everytime (as do the two NetApp NDMP backups) while while number two is the one that constantly hangs on Queued. This is even true for creating a new backup for for this particular host.
