Hi everybody.

Can I do a LAN Free (Off-Host) Backup (of the Virtual Machines) through the dashed green route in the depicted scenario ?

I mean ...is it supported by Symantec ?

For answer purposes,  suppose that (other than BackupExec) all other component (EXS Host, ESX Edition, Storage, ecc...) are interoperable and certified from every supplier.

Thanks!

Hi,

As long as your backup server is zoned to see the VM storage, you'd mount the VMFS volumes, and configure the option to not write signatures to the drives. This would effectively erase them if you didn't.

You'd use the AVVI option, and SAN Transport Mode in the job you configure.
