Agent installation Success But serivce is not staring : Backup Exec

Backup exec Verison 2010

When we try to intall the agent from the master server we got an error. Then we proceed with the installation from the client end.

It Installed successfully. But the "Backup exec Remote agent" service is not coming up. It throws an error which is show in the attachment.

Also in the client side when we open Backup utility, when we go the publishing tab, it display an error. Attached"Remote agent"

Could some please check and help me in resolving the issue.

Master server : Windows 2003

Client : Windows 2008

Try to start the services and please post the errormessages that appear in the eventlog.

The Backup Exec Remote Agent for Windows Servers Service did not start.  The application failed to listen on the NDMP TCP/IP port.  Check the network configuration. 

Help me how to check the network congifuration?

Another process is running on the default port that the remote agent is using.

These steps given above must be performed on the media server and on each remote machine being backed up !

You can also check with the command: netstat -ano which PID is using port 10000 and view with windows taskmanager (add the PID colum) what process is what PID.

You do not have the publishing information because you install the remote agent manually.  Add in the IP address of the media server to the publishing tab.  See this document
