VM level Backup job configured on Deduplication drive has failed with error - 0xe0001203 - An error occurred while creating or accessing the directory specified for this operation. Check to make sure that the B2D folder and/or the temporary path specified for this operation are valid.

An error occurred creating or accessing the directory \\.pdvfs\SERVERNAME\2\BEData\STHVHD specified for this operation. Ensure that the directory is accessible and can be written to.

Unable to access this path. Restarted the Backup Exec PureDisk Filesystem Service and also all the other Backup exec services but still unable to access the mentioned \\.pdvfs path. Earlier we were able to access the path once we restart the Backup exec PureDisk Filesystem service.

Reboot of Backup exec server resolves the issue temporarily. Issue occurs again after few instances of successful backups. Backup exec folders and Deduplication backup drive are excluded from the antivirus scanning. Support has suggested to repair the Backup exec application.

Is it possible to fix this error without performing Backup Exec repair.

If anyone has faced and fixed this error in their backup environment then please help us to resolve this issue.

Error while accessing path -

You do not have permission to access \\.pdvfs\SERVERNAME\2\BEDATA. Contact your network administrator to request access.

The request could not be performed because of an I/O device error.

OS - Windows server 2012 R2

Backup exec version - 20.3
