Is there any Symantec software to backup applications running on a windows platform ?

Yes backupexec is the product for symantec which is installed on windows & can backup different application on windows platform please check the SCL below for latest version of backupexec which is 2012 which describes different OS and diffrent application version supported

If your environment of Small-Medium Enterprise type then I would recommend you to got for Symantec Backup Exec.

But if its very large environment then Symantec Netbackup would be the better option.
