BE 10d, Storport KB932755 error V-79-57344-34029 - A hardware error occurred.

BEBB
Not applicable
Hi,

We use BE 10.1d 5629 SP4 with Symantec tape device driver 5.1.23, HP Ultrium 960 tape drive, SCSI LSIU320 2000 series, Windows server 2003 SP2 standard edition.  We use HP Proliant DL360 G4 with the latest support pack 8.0.  The tape drive is the only device locally connected to the SCSI controller and it should stay like this.  This tape is not accessible by other servers or program (BE exclusive, not shared).

This combination worked very well for a year...but now we need to install KB932755 for an iSCSI solution.

And If we install KB932755, it become impossible to do a complete backup job.  The job stop after 10 to 14 minutes (or 10 to 15 gb) with this Backup exec error:  V-79-57344-34029 - A hardware error occured
Here how we proceed to installed the KB932755...

First, we uninstalled BE and installed kb932755 then reinstalled BE and updated the tape device for the latest Symantec tape device driver.

We have disabled Removable service,  disabled Hp Insight fibre agent support and also disable Test unit ready TUR request in the registry for all service that could request for this device.

With the KB932755 installed, it become impossible to do a complete backup job.  The job stop after 10 to 14 minutes (or 10 to 15 gb) with this Backup exec error:

In the Windows Application log we obtained:

We dont have other event ID then these one so the knowledge base article of Symantec for V-79-57344-34029 seems to be irrelevant ?

If we uninstall KB932755, everything become ok.  We have run Assesment test and read/write with the HP Library and tape tools and everything was ok.  No error at all.

I see many user with the same kind of problem but I have never found a solution.  Some users suggested to disable the HP Insight service or HP Insight storage service so we have tried those solution but with no success.

Does anyone have some suggestion for us ?

Thank you
