BE 11d not reading tapes.

I have installed a standalone tape drive on a media server. BE 11d does show the Ibm tape drive installed. The tape drive does no t read any tapes. Ran inventory, but fails every time. Backup exec 11d. Any suggestions?

Wolff: Your drive isn't supported on BE 11d. Check the HCL below:

You're going to have to move to BE 2010 R3 at a bare minimum to support the drive.

If you need help on how to migrate from 11d to BE 2010 R3, I'd suggest opening a new forum query around it.

Thanks!

What kind of tape device do you have ?
Is the tape drive correctly recognized in Windows device manager ?
Is this a new tape or a tape already used?
Have you tried another tape ?
Is the device working with NTbackup ?

Hi,

Download the IBM tape utility. Stop the BE services, and then run diagnostics against the drive to rule out any issues with it.

Just make sure the Removable Storage service is also stopped and disabled.

Thanks!

IBM HH Lto gen 5 with BE 11d. tape drive shows in device manager. Tried a few tapes, including brand new tape. Will test with NTbackup.
