Hi there,

I'd firstly check the Event Viewer to see why the server is blue-screening. If it's the patch you're trying to install, it should give you those details.

If you have an AV, you might want to try stopping this while doing the upgrade, and a last thing to try would be to download the patch manually and then install yourself.

Thanks!

As that update is pre-SP 1 download an install SP1 instead

SP1 http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH168343

and then try LiveUpdate after SP1 is installed to get other Hotfixes that come after SP1

After to  install BE 2010 R3, i start a liveupdate and install SP1 and hotfix 167567.

Due to an issue of AD restore, I have to install the patch 161270.

I installed  LiveUpdate and manually, I have the same problem =  blue screen

No you don't have to install that patch. It would be included in SP1, and this is probably the reason why you're blue-screening your server. If you're being told that by a support engineer, then they're wrong and need to check their list of troubleshooting steps.

A service pack includes ALL hotfixes leading up to the SP and anything new not yet released.

If you are having an AD restore problem with SP1 and all updates installed, then you should open a support case for us to research.

If you already have a support case and the Symantec contact handling the case is stating install Hotfix 161270 then I suggest you ask him/her to escalate as that update should be contained in SP1.
