BE 2010 to BE 2014 upgrade

Hi!

Tomorrow, I will be upgrading from BE 2010 to BE 2014.

I've read that I could use the installation media as to upgrade.

After making sure there are no back-up jobs running and after I run a maintenance job , do I just run the installation media and proceed to the upgrade or I need to do some preparations like run a Catalog backup and stop some services?

Can you provide a step by step process?

Thank you!

1) Stop all BE services including BKUPEXEC SQL service.

2) Make a copy of Data and Catalogs folder located in the installation directory of BE.

3) Download BE2014

4) Extract the ISO on the local drive of the BE media server.

5) Run setup

6) Onec the upgrade is done run Liveupdate to install all the latest hotfixes.

7) Update all the remote agents.

Read BE2014 Software and Hardware compatibility list before upgrading.

1) Make sure that you check the SCL and HCL to ensure that the software and hardware that you are using are compatible with BE 2014.

2) You should also load a copy of BE 2014 and test it out before upgrading.

Data folder contains BE database which has all the jobs, policies and settings. Catalogs folder

contains all the catalogs files which are generated during backup job. Using Data and Catalogs

folder you can recover Backup Exec from any disaster.
