BE 2012 restore using SDR disk of a Windows 2008 Server. 80004002 Windows update Error

Hi

Im doing a restore of a test Windows 2008 Server (32bit) using Backup exec 2012 and an SDR iso that I created.

The restore from tape is successful and the server boots fine.

the trouble im finding is that Windows update no longer works and displays a "windows could not search for new updates" with a 80004002 error code.

Even the System Update Readiness Tool for Windows Server 2008 (KB947821) fails to install with an 0x80004002 "no such interface supported" error message.

Anyone any ideas ?

If everything else is working fine, then its most likely an issue with Windows Update rather than SDR.

Try resinstalling the Windows Update client using http://windows.microsoft.com/en-IN/windows7/windows-update-error-80004002

Else, you could try to manually reset the Windows Update components using http://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/971058
