BE 7 on NT 4.0 eerver fails

hi friends, 
Nothing has changed on the server in quite some time.  Nt 4.0 Server.
When you run either a manual backup OR the daily scheduled backup, it acts like it is going to run, and then says Device Paused.  We have tried different media as well.
Any help will be highly appriciated
