BE 8.6 does not see a Changer in the "Removable Media Service"

Hi all,

we got a new autoloader, a dell powervault 124T LTO2.

In the removable Media Service everything works fine.

The drive is there, the changer is there and NTBACKUP can use the autoloader perfectly.

But when i install BE 8.6 and tell it NOT to use its own drivers but those of the RMS, on the devices tab the changer is not there.
Only the LTO2 - drive!

Where the hell is the changer and what can i do to use it?

This is the fifth time i de- and reinstalled everything from BE 8.6 down to the devices (LTO-drive and changer).

In the BE-versions since 9.x there can exe-files be found, which install VERITAS drivers for modern devices and much "robotic devices" support.
Where can i find the same for BE 8.6?

Help would be greatly appreciated.

TIA,

Richard

BackupExec v8 supports one autoloader with one driver with no additional serials, but AutoLoader support must be selected at install time

did you sel;ect that option?

the latest driver pack for v8.5 is at

http://seer.support.veritas.com/docs/256251.htm

but it is dated 3/21/2003

Even if iti is not on the HCL, as long as Windows Device Manager sees it, and as long as NTBackup can see and us it, BackupExec SHOULD be able to.

Backup Exec at the very least should see it as an "Unknown Device Type) when you run the Hardware Wizard.

(Using TapeInst won't help as long as the device is not on the HCL)
