BE15 OS Migration 2008->2012

Hello,

We have a physical server who run Backup Exec 15, on Windows 2008 R2 OS.

We need to update this serveur to Windows 2012 R2, and keeping the BE 15 configuration identical.

This BE has a Dedup Store, stored on a separated partition. This partition will be kept in the same state as now.

We will "format" the OS of this server (C:\), for restart as clean install of W2012, reinstall BE 15 and import BE configuration.

My questions:

- What arent the Backup Exec elements to backup before formatting server ? (database, catalogs, configuration, jobs, etc...)

- How to reimport theses elements to the new install afterward ?

- How to reconnect the dedup store (~9 TB) directly with all the backupsets ?

Thank you very much,

Best regards

S.Kessler

1) Stop all BE services and grab a copy of the Data & Catalog folders from \Program Files\Symantec\Backup Exec directory

2) Reinstall Backup Exec. Do not launch the console. Stop all BE services and replace the Data & Catalog folders. Restart all services.

3) Import DeDup - https://www.veritas.com/support/en_US/article.000076208
