BE16 Upgrading BEDB from SQL 2008R2 to SQL 2012

My DBA wants to update my BE16's  BEDB from SQL 2008R2 to SQL2012.
Are there any special steps to do or can I just stop all services, have the local SQL server upgraded, reboot and start back up?

Thanks,

yes, it should be as simple as that. I assume you installed BE on an instance other than the one which BE Installs by default i.e. BKUPEXEC instance. For BE 16 , the defaulT SQL version installed with BE INstall is SQL 2014 SP2 but since in your case it seems the instance is different than BKUPEXEC, then you can upgrade it. Stop BE service and upgrade the SQL instance. Then start the service and run the backups. Keep a backup of BEdb before the Instance upgrade.

Well this was a server upgraded from BE2012 to 2015 then 2016, so the SQL server express is still stuck at 2008R2 SP3.

That sounds pretty straightforward I will try that, thanks.
