Hi all,

I´m a Symantec partner (registered) and I´m trying to install this software (trial 60d) to show their benefits and features to a new customer, but after install (withou errors) is impossible to use since some services cannot start.

After diag, we found that the service "Backup Exec Device & Media Service" cannot start, in the event viewer has the following:

HELP !!!!!!!
########

I search on google and Symantec KB about 0xe0008145 but no records found!!! What means this error code ????

*** The customer server  (Dell T300 with Windows SBS 2008 Premium) has not TAPE DEVICE and we plan use 'B2D' for protect files, exchange mailboxes and SQL databases.
*** This is the second attempt to install and in the first we start 'liveupdate' process at the end of installation but the error is the same!

>>> I've tried to Article http://seer.entsupport.symantec.com/docs/274102.htm, but without success!

tks,

Renato Pereira

Hi Renato,

Had a similar sort of issue with BE 2010 on a Windows Server 2003 server. I had to patch the server with the available patches to clear it up.
Not sure if you have or not, but it is always a start.

Thanks!

Hey Symantec team, you have a not document incident!!!!

>>>> After uninstall BE, reboot the server and install it again using specific db (MS SQL EXPRESS 2005), works fine!!!

This problem is related with MS SQL SERVER 2008 (builtin SBS 2008)!!!!

Hi Renato,

I would ask that you call in to technical support to have our technicians diagnose the problem that you are seeing.  It may be something as simple as enable named pipes on the SQL instance or something more.  We apologize for any inconvenience and hope that we may help you see this through to resolution.

Thanks!
Billy
