I have a new BE2010 R3 installation on a Win2008R2 server. I also have agents installed on a number of Win server computers.
I restarted the Backup Exec Agent Browser with the -debug option and the content is below.
Can anyone suggest what to do next ? Why can't I browse the resources on the network (or the local machine)?

Try using a different domain admin account, make sure you configure the account
as "domain\admin". In BE console click on Network-> logon account and make an entry of new
account.
06-03-2011 07:07 AM
I tried that too...no difference (restarted all services too)
06-03-2011 07:37 AM
I'd run a BEDB repair using BEutility.exe, and once done, check that your agents are all publishing correctly to your media server.
06-03-2011 07:43 AM
I did the BEDB repair - no change.
I even uninstalled and reinstalled (program files only option)
Same result...still can't connect/see anything.
Shouldn't I at least see my local disk ? (No agent required?). I have Symantec Endpoint protection installed, but I disabled and see same result.
VERY frustrating!!!
06-03-2011 03:48 PM
I finally uninstalled full (not just program files), and reinstalled. Now it's working.
Strange...
06-06-2011 05:52 AM
And 3 days later the problem is back. Even though I completely removed and reinstalled, recreated selection lists and jobs, etc.
Everything worked fine for 3 days, now the exact same problem is back (cannot browse at all for creating selection lists). I tried rebooting etc...no impact...

Another week has gone by...anyone from Symantec have some helpful advice?
06-14-2011 06:18 AM
Did you contact Symantec Support about this issue ?
As posting on this forum is no guarantee that Symantec will pickup this issue.
06-14-2011 07:03 AM
...I have hit the support flag for you.
Have you also checked DNS for any issues from your media server?
06-14-2011 07:40 AM
My speaking english is not great so I like online support (google translate helps too).
A little more info: I ran the BE_SupportTool on the remote systems with RAWS running and everything is perfect.
I also ran the Backup Exec Debug Monitor on the media server, and the log is below (showing one of the RAWS clients connecting). Anything look wrong there?
06-14-2011 07:55 AM
Hi,
While waiting, check the TNs below and see if they apply to you at all...are you trying to back up a cluster by any chance? As that error keeps on coming up!
http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH77677
Checking to see if the agents ports are open using netstat.
Thanks!
06-14-2011 09:05 AM
I am not runnng any clusters. The media server is win2008R2 server 64 bit, clients are mostly win2003 server 32 bit, all standalone (actually VM's in esxi).
I'll start with just getting one remote agent to work. I checked my "fps" server and RAWS is running and listening on port 10000 according to netstat:
TCP 0.0.0.0:10000 0.0.0.0:0 LISTENING 3872 [beremote.exe]
As well, I checked DNS on the media server and all is fine. (DNS IP's are correctly, nslookup shows lookups working fine).

Check that your BESA has all the rights as given in this document
http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH36718
especially the "logon as batch" right.
06-17-2011 06:19 AM
Interestingly all of the BESA policy entries were missing (but group memberships were fine); hopefully I changed these settings in the right place:
Domain Security Settings | Security Settings | Local Policies | User Rights Assignment
I then force the grupdate, and even rebooted everything for good measure. But, the problem remains - I can't browse any resources.
Hopefully there's more ideas...
Thanks

Thanks for this posting - it caused me to look again at the login credentials used by BE.
It turns out I had created another account that BE didn't like. The domain and name were the same as my BESA account, but it was "OWNED BY" the BESA account. I don't understand how that is possible.
I set my original BESA account as the default and browsing is working again. (But I can't delete my extra account because BE says it is logged in - not sure what that means).
Thanks
