Dear,
We have to backup quite huge amount of data for a small company (4 of our servers are over 12h backup duration each).
Is it possible using only one BackupExec server to do a full backup of a server on a local disk and on an USB disk at the same time (sort of mirroring: read once, write twice) ?
Or can we backup to one disk then copy the content (of BEControl & BEData) to USB disk (will it be fully functionnal from USB disk after an inventory ?)
This will allow to have full backup running only during the weekend, only impacting servers once a week and still have a copy that can be brought outside the company.
Thanks for your help!

Hi,
You're correct...the duplicate job will run from the B2D, not from the servers.
You can follow the TN below:
http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH187265
Just test it first and make sure it fits what you want.
Thanks!

Hi,
I don't think you want to do simultaneous backups of the same server at the same time.
Best bet would be to backup to a primary disk, and then run a duplication job to a secondary disk. There is no mirroring functionality in BE at all.
Otherwise, if backups are taking a while, why not consider something like a deduplication job?
Thanks!

Hi Craig,
Thanks for answer, looks like duplication job will run from the backup disk (not from servers again)? right?
Now how can I schedule this duplication to run only on full backup?
So far, only documentation that I found is how to do it manually (absolutely not the goal ;)
http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH187271
or documentation apply to previous version of BE...
Please don't tell me that we'll have to buy yet another license for such feature?!
Thanks again,
behd
[EDIT] Just found from another post that we have to add stage to the job... will test that... but seems interesting and what I was looking for!

will have to wait until next weekend for complete test but thanks for your time and information!
will assume (for the moment) that your first post is the correct solution to my problem ;)
Best regards,
