BE2012 : Disaster Recovery grey indicator & LN options missing

Hi all,

We have moved to BE2012 recently and I've been adding servers step by step and after getting used
to the new interface I've got it working pretty smoothly.

Yesterday I added our Lotus Notes mailserver to the list of servers that needs to be backed up.

2 issues have caught my attention

1) Even though I have selected full backup for the server, the indicator of Disaster Recovery remains grey instead
of turning green as it is on the other servers.

Screenshot : http://dl.dropbox.com/u/56719423/disaster_recovery_grey.JPG

2) The backup runs fine and the job is aware that it is backing up LN databases but when I open the job
properties and go to the Lotus Domino section it is just empty.  I'm not sure if this is normal.

Any help or advise on these 2 issues is much appreciated.

Thnx

Jan

Hi Jan,

Firstly, make sure your media server is fully patched. There have been a couple of updates released since BE 2012 was released. Push-install these to any remote servers you have.

You should also check the Known Issues section on the link below and make sure that your issues aren't shown. If they are, vote them up.

Thanks!

Hi Craig,

The media server is fully patched, I check for updates on a daily basis.

I'll check the link you provided to see if I find something related.

Thnx

Hello Jan,

Simplified System Protection backups are disabled in case latest remote agent is not pushed to the remote sever. Have you pushed out Agent for Winodws 2012 on the remote server? You can either update the agent using the BE console or refer to the following technote to update remote agent.

http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH179142

Hope this is helpful

Skamat,

I first removed the old backup agent from the servers, then pushed them
from the new BE2012 media server.

I just checked and for all clients it states : "There are no upgrades or updates required at this time."

Jan

Jan,

Lotus domino options appears when you include incremental backup method in the backup solution. What logging method do you have on the Domino? Please refer the following technote:

http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=HOWTO74317#v63335199

Has the server rebooted after agent installation?

Regards,
skamat

Did you buy and install a agent for applications and database licence for your Domino server?

JvdPoel, thanks for highlighting this issue:

The backup runs fine and the job is aware that it is backing up LN databases but when I open the job
properties and go to the Lotus Domino section it is just empty.  I'm not sure if this is normal.

As skamat said, the Lotus Domino options appear only with incremental backups and the behavior you observed is normal. However, as indicated in your post, it's a source of confusion. Please note that we have taken note of this and working to improve this.

Hi.  For issue 1, I am unable to access the screenshot.  When and if able, please attach the screenshot directly to this post for review.  Thank you.
