Hello,

We have the below licences:

3 x BE2010 Media server

3 x SAN Shared Storage Option

1 x Advanced Disk Backup Option

5 x Library Expansion Option

1 x NDMP Option

We wanted to renew these licences.

So, how many ESO and media server licence should we get?

Thanks

Here the List of License what you need to have.

3 x media server

1 x ESO

5 x LEO

1 x NDMP

Please be aware that the ESO will cover the SSO, Caso and ADBO for all Media Servers. If you are not anymore under Maintenace you ( 30 Days after your Mainenance expired ) you need to buy Upgrade Licenses.

Hi,

I'd say the following:

1. 1 x Enterprise Server Option license - you'd need 1 SAN SSO server and a CASO server to control things. This also includes your ADBO.

2. 2 normal media server licenses with SAN SSO as a license per media server license.

Don't forget that if your library has more than 1 drive, you need a Library Expansion Option license PER extra drive. x 3 servers...

Thanks!

Hello,

Should 1 x ESO support 3 SAN SSO and 1 ADBO at the same time?

Especially yes we have;

3 x media server

3 x SAN SSO

1 x ADBO

5 x LEO

1 x NDMP

No...ESO license for your server designated for ADBO, SAN SSO and CASO.

Standard media server license for the other backup servers, along with SAN SSO licenses for them too.

5 x LEO licenses would cover the drives in the library...

Alternatively, go for ESO licenses for all your servers and you should be covered (except for NDMP and LEO)...but that might be costly!

Yes, I know ESO license designated for ADBO, SAN SSO and CASO.

I just mean that, will 1 ESO be enough for 3 SAN SSO and 1 ADBO?

Or, should we get 4 ESO for 3 SAN SSO and 1 ADBO?

(as it is done for Database and Application Option; for ex 3 SQL and 1 Exchange, we offer 4 Database and Application Option)

The licencing should be done as follows:

3 x media server

4 x ESO

5 x LEO

1 x NDMP

or as follows:

3 x media server

1 x ESO

5 x LEO

1 x NDMP

Thanks!

...your licensing list gets longer and longer for some reason!

No...you have 3 servers...

I'd think that your "option 2" would be the 1 to go for. You can confirm that by going to the site below and entering what you'd need:

BE2012 Enterprise Server Option (ESO) includes unlimited number of SAN SSO,unlimited number of ADBO and one CASO. It is licensed per environment as in 1ESO per environment. One can not have more than 1 ESO in the same environment(domain).

re: Standard media server license for the other backup servers, along with SAN SSO licenses for them too.

There is no SSO license for BE 2012.  The ESO license covers all media servers.
