BE2012 - Merging catalog data

DSAI

Hi,

We have Backup Exec 2012 and we were running out of space on the C drive so we changed the path to the catalogs to the D drive. Now we need to merge the catalogs.

From what I understand all I need to do is copy the contents of the C:\Program Files\Symantec\Backup Exec\Catalogs\<serverName> to D:\Program Files\Symantec\Backup Exec\Catalogs\<serverName>

and then run Catrebuildindex -r

1) Is this correct?

2) I noticed some dot SM files. Do I need to move these aswell?

3) I read that I would still need to do an inventory of the tapes...I beleive this only applies if you are moving from a different server....ie different BEDB. Is this correct?

thanks in advance for your help.

Hi,

If you follow the TN below it's going to help you move everything properly...

Thanks!

Hi Craig,

Thanks, I had seen that TN...I just wanted to be sure it also applies to merging catalogs...That TN assumes the target directory is empty.

It doesn't mention running the Catrebuildindex -r command...Does that mean we don't need to use it?

Also it doesn't mention anything about the .SM files.
