BE2012 and Dell PowerVault 114T bay

tgun
Level 2

Hi

I m using BE2012 on W2008R2 server.

I have a one PowerVault 114T bay with 2 RD1000 Drives. RD1000 Drives are seen in Windows as 2 removable storage devices named ie I & J.

The biggest awailable RD1000 cartridges have 1.5Tb capacity. My full backups are exceeding 2Tb.

If I use one drive at a time I must swap 1.5Tb catridges on the fly - Not very convenient for the week end Full Backups.

I am looking for a solution to use I & J as one cartridge of 3T to avoid me from swapping cartridges on week ends.

Any ideas alternative solutions are more than welcome.

Regards

Philippe

This is not possible as disk spanning is not a part of BE 2012.

What you need to do is to split your backups so that they fit into each of the two disks and then target them to the appropriate disk.  For example, your full backups are 2 jobs of 1TB each.  You target one job to drive I and the other job to drive J.
