BE2012 upgrade to BE2014: Trial period for Backup Exec or for an agent or option has expired

Hi all

I apologize for my english, I hope you can understand my problem.

2 months ago we have upgraded our be2012 installation to be2014. All the jobs running fine for 2 months. After exactly 60 days ALL the jobs start failing with the following message:

The job failed with the following error: The trial period for Backup Exec or for an agent or option has expired. You must enter the serial number to continue.

Looking at the license option I can see a "Deduplication Option" checked; this option is under the "Options avaliable for trial (60 days)" node.

Do we need a license for dedup? Why in BE2012 it was not necessary and all the jobs ran good?

How can we resolve this proble? Actually ALL the backup miserably FAIL.

Hope you have entered the serial number of the product and not maintenance.

If you use the dedupe option then yes, you do need to license it.

When upgrading to BE 15 did you enter in a license key to enable all your options? If so, and you do use dedupe, then I'd get hold of the licensing department and request a new key with the relevant dedupe license in order to use it.

If you don't, then run the licensing tool and see if you can disable it.

For "Licensing tool" you mean the wizard launched by cliccking on this menu?

If yes I tried to uncheck the option and restart the services with no luck.

As you can see I have a nice red key icon on the Home tab...

OK, so do you actually use the dedupe option? Or did you simply select this for trial and let the trial lapse?

If the latter (tried it, let it lapse), then contact Symantec support and ask them to assist you in removing this option.

If you actually use it, then you need to contact the licensing department to sort this out.
