BEDATA Folder for Multiple backup jobs.

downsouth
Level 4

So I created disk storage and the BEDATA directory was created. My question is how can i create sub directorys off of this for say Exchange and file server jobs. Do you have this option or do I have to carve up volumes and send the jobs to those volumes under thier \BEDATA common folders.

I.E.

H\BEDATA <<Exchange BU's

I:\BEDATA << File server BU's

etc...

I did see this PDF on disk storage as of 2012 - https://www.veritas.com/support/en_US/article.100025225.html

but wanted to make sure

  • Create a separate backup-to-disk folder specifically for all GRT enabled backup jobs. Note: Backup Exec 2012 enforces one disk storage device per Windows volume, as such this will need multiple volumes"

From BE 2012 onwards, BE only allow one disk storage per volume.  You cannot create sub-directories or another disk storage on the same volume.

Why are you trying to seperate your backup sets?
