Back-up Exec 2012 append to older tape

Hi,

We have one of our yearly tapes which was written on 31-12-2014 and we want to append data to this tape now.

how do we proceed on this task? the Overwrite protection is set to Infinite but the append period has been exceeded as it was set to 24 hours at the time the job ran. How do we make it so that we can append data to this tape without overwriting what is already stored on this tape?

Kind regards,

Jos Verhallen

You got to extend the AP to long enough. AP starts from the time when the tape is first overwritten. In your case the AP would be something like 3 months

Your question is actually self explaining, just set the append period to the time needed. If you use the tape on first backup, then after 3 months you want to append to that tape then your append period has to be at least 3 months.

Bear in mind you change the setting against the media set the tape belongs to (which will mean you change the append period other tapes in the set as well.)
