Back up failure

Hi Guys,

Iam experiencing the following error when on scheduled backup with the following error message.My product is already activated .Do i need extra Keys

Error message:

The job failed with the following error: Before you can backup this source you must purchase and install a license for the appropriate backup exec agent.see the job log for details

Could you post the exact error message from the job log? 

Also let us know what kind of resource you are backing up.

If you are backing up a remote server or a remote device like a NAS or some shared directories, then you need to purchase and install one Agent for Windows Systems agent license per server/device

Many a times, this error is experienced when backing up the entire Backup Exec media server itself and the Agent for Applications & Database license (to protect the SQL DBs) isn't present.

Iam backing up to external storage(hp reft hand storage)

What type of data are you backing up ?  Are you backing up just regular data or CIFS data, DBs such as Exchange, SQL, Active Directory ?

Are there equivalent number of Remote Agent licenses installed for number of remote server backups ?

For licences, it is not where you backup to that counts. What matters is what you are backing up
