Backing Up CentOS 5.5 Server and Data with Backup Exec 2010

Hello All, N00bie here...

I have a client that has been using the old Veritas Backup Exec 9.0 for NetWare to backup a Novell Server. Recently, the oranization made the determination to go to a Linux-based server and contracted me to install CenntOS 5.5 and SAMBA shares for the office. In this new environment, two concerns have risen:

1. How do they access the "old" backups?
        - The company has four external HDDs to which they rotate incremental BUs.
        - A FULL BACKUP has not been available since December 2010 do to latency of backkup processing (over USB 1.1!)

2. Can a newer version of Backup Exec be the 'savior' to their backup needs>
        - Provide sustainable access to former file share BUs from the 'old' system
        - Provide BUs going forward on the CentOS servers?

I'd really appreciate any help you can provide. In advance, THANKS!

Cent OS does not appear in the compatibility list of BE2010

Any new version of BE will have to be installed on a Windows server and as pointed out by Amolzerocool, it cannot backup Cent OS.  Furthermore, I am not sure if it is able to read tapes created on the Netware platform.

The BE server is installed on a Windows server (2003 R2 64bit)

The backups are of the VM's not direct to Centos 5.5, a snapshot is taken and that snapshot is what is backed up.

It's strange that 5 of the Centos VM's are ok but 2 are not.
