Backing Up Server To Netgear ReadyNAS Fails with Timeout

Hi,

I'm using a Netgear ReadyNAS NVX as a backup device (backup-to-disk folder) for Symantec Backup Exec 11d. The backup should be about 50gb - this is what it was backing up as on a USB disk. However, the first backup to run has failed with the following error:

Device name : ReadyNAS
Target name : ReadyNAS
Media set name : Weekly Backup
All Media Used
B2D000512
Error category : Backup Device Errors
Error : e00084f0 - The device timed out.
For additional information regarding this error refer to link V-79-57344-34032

The backup seemed to get to about 1.4gb then failed. What would be causing the device to timeout? The network is 1GB, the backup was taking place at 11pm on a Sunday night, no users were on, and no files were open! I looked on Symantec support for the article  V-79-57344-34032, but it talks about tapes and robotic libraries, not backup-to-disk folders.

We're using Windows 2003 SBS SP2, with Exchange 2003 SP2, Backup Exec 11d. Server is a Dell PowerEdge SC440, 1GB Negear Switch.

Any suggestions or help would be welcome!

Ben

 Hi Ben,

The error seems  to be  if the hardware is busy and does not reply in a timely fashion well we can update the  latest driver set for the hardware used and reboot and try once again. Please refer to Kb given below.

http://seer.entsupport.symantec.com/docs/321678.htm

And please specify if the backup that is failing is a snapshot backup and if you can  create a new backup job and  see if it goes fine with a new selection list.
